Legislative efforts/concerns

The Blue Knight International by-laws define our goals, they are:

  • Provide for the mutual assistance, enjoyment, entertainment, education, physical, mental and social benefit of its members and the general public.
  • To promote and advance the sport of motorcycling and the safety of motorcycling.
  • To serve the interests of motorcycle owners and users.
  • To promote by example and any other acceptable means, safe use, operation and enjoyment of motorcycles.
  • To develop a fraternal spirit between law enforcement personnel and the general public.

Keeping these goals in mind here are many good and great ideas on how to make our motorcycling environment              safer.  Agreeably, the first is having driver's follow reasonable standards.  Other factors need to be regulated by            laws.  On this page you will see some ideas/issues that can be presented to legislators for their consideration.

NOTE: Just because an issue appears here or is offered on this site, it does NOT imply any endorsement or support from the Blue Knights LEMC.  This is very simply an informational venue used to better educate and inform riders and like-minded residents of some of the issues affecting our community.

If you wish to voice an opinion for or against an issue you are encouraged to make contact with your Senator and/or House representatives and ask for their support.  Follow these links to locate YOUR elected representatives.

     Iowa Representatives: https://www.legis.iowa.gov/legislators/find

     Illinois Representatives:  http://il--nea.capwiz.com/nea/il/directory/statedir.tt?state=IL&lvl=state

If you really desire the support and action by Representatives I'd strongly encourage you to call them, email them and even propose a meeting with them Representative.  Meetings are usually the most difficult, look at their calendars for locations in your area, make an appointment and go to them if/as needed, your commitment and dedication can be often seen in your actions too.
